In 1984, Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Dr Haji Yahaya Ibrahim founded the company, Yahaya Ibrahim Educational Services Sdn Bhd. After serving many years forming the early implementation of Malaysian public education, he then retired to pioneer the private education within Malaysia. In 2012, Yahaya Ibrahim Educational Services was rebranded to Y.I Holdings group as a business consultancy and a diversified investment firm. This change in business direction was spearheaded by his grandson and prodigy, Shafiqe Badril.
Through his numerous efforts, accomplishments and accreditations within Malaysia and Singapore, Tan Sri Dr Yahaya Ibrahim has created strong connections with influences internationally within the Private and Public Sector, Heads of State and Government within Malaysia as well as International Diplomatic Relations and Foreign Heads of Government.

In 2012, Shafiqe seized the opportunity to expand the business to more than just educational services. He rebranded Yahaya Ibrahim Educational Services Sdn Bhd to reflect the new vision of Y.I Holdings Group. Leveraging on their extensive networks, Y.I Holdings Group has since ventured into investment and business consulting.
Through strong relationships within the Malaysian and Singaporean government and public sector, Shafiqe founded the Y.I Holdings Group to create strategic business partnerships as well as provide education and mentorship to ensure growth and scalability within the local market.

The Successor

Shafiqe Badril
Shafiqe’s strong family lineage and strong business acumen is what sets him apart from other investors and business mentors. He emphasises that creating genuine relationships and soft diplomacy is the key to creating powerful partnerships. As a result, Shafiqe is now adjunct with the esteemed upper Malaysian and Singaporean society of successful business magnates and industry leaders.
Shafiqe Badril began his life and education when his family migrated abroad to London, U.K. where he continued to further his education in The United States of America, Tennessee, St. Louis, Missouri, Virginia, and Maryland. To cope with the constant pressure of relocating, Shafiqe garnered an interest in education and books, much like his grandfather, Tan Sri Dato' Seri Dr Haji Yahaya Ibrahim. He had a specific interest in Finance and taught himself everything there was to know. At the young age of fifteen, Shafiqe bought his first stock with the Citibank group and thus began Shafiqe’s early venture in entrepreneurship and investment.

Shafiqe returned to Malaysia after completing his tertiary education to join Yahaya Ibrahim Educational Services Sdn Bhd, a company that was founded by his grandfather. He then became the member of the Board of Directors in 2012 and established Yahaya Ibrahim Holdings Group and is now the President and Group CEO. Since his tenure, Shafiqe has expanded the business from education
and ventured into tourism, logistics, property management, financial development and business efficiency.

As grand-nephew of the late Mr Ahmad Ibrahim, a member of the First Cabinet of Singapore, handpicked by Lee Kuan Yew himself as the Minister of Health, Labour and Assistant Secretary-General of the People’s Action Party Central Executive Committee, Shafiqe’s family and lineage has provided him the network to strong government establishments as well as the experience to ensure success of his new ventures.

Our First Founder

Tan Sri Dato' Seri Dr Haji Yahaya Ibrahim’s contribution towards the Malaysian Education system has earned him numerous respectable title such as “Tokoh Guru”, “Tokoh Guru Kebangsaan” “Bapa Pendidikan Swasta” and “Tokoh Pendidikan” which translates to Malaysia’s Educational Figurehead.
Tan Sri Dr Yahaya Ibrahim had a strong interest in education, specifically in English during his early education years. This led him to enrol in Penang Free School, an English school, and also fostered a friendship with the late Artisan Tan Sri P. Ramlee. Tan Sri Dr Yahaya Ibrahim aided former Singaporean Prime Minster, Lee Kuan Yew in the implementation of English education in Singapore.

The most notable relationship Tan Sri Dr Yahaya Ibrahim has nurtured was with His Majesty, The Late Sultan Azlan Shah (34th Sultan of Perak and 9th King of Malaysia). They met when Tan Sri Dr Yahaya Ibrahim was attending university with His Majesty’s Wife, Her Majesty Tuanku Bainun Mohd Ali (34th Raja Permaisuri Perak and 9th Queen of Malaysia). Their relationship has endured to this day through their eldest son, His Majesty, Sultan Nazrin Shah (35th Sultan of Perak and 16th Deputy King of Malaysia).

Tan Sri Dr Yahaya Ibrahim, alongside Tun Dr Mahathir and Tun Sheikh Hamdan Sheikh Tahir journeyed together throughout local Malaysian schools to train school principals on special science education courses.

Later in 1984, Tan Sri Dr Yahaya Ibrahim retired from Government Service then founded private education in Malaysia. His unflinching dedication of tertiary education for both local and abroad gained him the position of becoming the first President of National Association of Private Education Institutions (NAPEI) Malaysia, serving the years from 1987 to 1994. Tan Sri Dr Yahaya Ibrahim continued his ventures in developing local education by establishing a new professional association with a group of Malaysian leaders known as the Malaysian Association of Private Colleges (MAPCU) in 1997.
Tan Sri Dr Yahaya Ibrahim had a strong interest in education.

Tan Sri Dr Yahaya Ibrahim aided former Singapore Prime Minister, Lee Kuan Yew in the implementation of English education in Singapore.

He was also given the title “Tan Sri”, the second most senior federal title only second to “Tun” which is bestowed to former Prime Minister’s and sitting Governor’s by His Majesty The Yang Di Pertuan Agong/ King of Malaysia.
